Gründerziet House

In the morning of April 26th 2014, a serious gas explosion in the Gründerzeit house located in the Mariahilfer Strasse caused a partial collapse of the building. The second and the third floor and the roof were destroyed in the wing of the building facing Mariahilfer Strasse. The resconstruction and revitalization of the residential building was completed in spring 2018. In the course of the project, the application of the aerogel plaster on an existing mansonry was demonstrated for the first time on a structured facade. Therefore, the project is exemplary for how the adaptation of evolved urban structures can meet the requirements of a modern, energy-efficient bıilding. Besides, the project characterized with some other highlights. These includes the use of hemp insulation, the creation of green areas and open spaces, for example by greening the courtyard roof or by erecting new balconies, the barrier-free accessibility of all dwellings through the erection of an elevator or the retrofitting of an air ventilation system.

BOKU - Universität für Bodenkultur Wien

Ceiling heating systems supported by thermal collectors placed at the roof. Ceiling heating and cooling systems mainly supported by soil based heat pump. Fresh air supply from floor vents in fromt of windows and exhausted from the upper side of the wall.

GRÜNEzukunftSCHULEN

A green wall designed for the students who are educated in primary school in Vienna to feel more comfortable and increase their focus on the lessons. The green wall completely maintained by students. As a result of this study an increase in students’ lesson success and focus was observed. However, this increase is based on psychology. Improvements should be made for indoor air quality and a system that distributing fresh air should be designed. If this is done the increase of student performance will be observable as a physcial statement.
